In 2025, the team surpassed $285 million in sales volume, a feat previously unthinkable in the Maine real estate market.
In 1994 David opened RE/MAX By The Bay, with the goal of building an agency capable of providing an unsurpassed client experience. RE/MAX By The Bay quickly became home to the highest producing agents in the States of Maine and New Hampshire. By 2013 the company occupied three offices across two states with nearly 80 licensed agents. In 2016, after more than 20 years of owning and operating a large, top-notch brokerage, the two satellite offices were sold to a longtime colleague, allowing David to focus on what he enjoys most; working with a small, talented team to serve the buying and selling needs of his clients.

In 2024, Teddy Piper joined David and Michael Banks as an owner of RE/MAX By The Bay. Teddy joined the company in 2012 and assisted in operations of the larger agency before becoming a licensed member of the David Banks Team in 2014. Founder and longtime owner David Banks is staying on as a lead Broker, and the team will function as it always has, with an eye towards the future and expertly navigating Maine’s ever-changing real estate market. Teddy shares:
